LGBTQIA+

We are committed to creating an open and safe space for Fitchburg State students who identify as LGBTQIA+.

While there are many laws that prohibit discrimination based on gender or sexuality, you may have questions when navigating the job search, such as:

  • Should I disclose my gender identity to an employer?
  • How do I know if an environment is safe?
  • What avenues of support and recourse can I access if I experience discrimination?
  • Will my job provide benefits that cover my gender affirming care?
  • Will my job provide benefits that cover my family?
  • Will I be supported as a Transgender, Non Binary, or Gender Nonconforming person within this company?
  • What types of support (affinity groups, for example) will I be able to access from my employer?
  • Will I be able to speak outwardly about my partner/s and family at my workplace?
  • How will I navigate possible repercussions?

The Career Services and Advising Center offers guidance, support, and resources to students who are thinking about these questions and others. Schedule an appointment to meet with a career advisor, or check out our additional web resources for more information.
